Fr Jerome Nyathi - reflecting on the Lockdown in his special poetic style, mixed with beautiful African supporting music.
One of the essential and permanent elements of the formation programme at St John Vianney Seminary is the 6 months Pastoral Internship programme. At the end of their second year of Theology, these students spend 6 months away from the Seminary, from January to June, in a Parish in their home Diocese under the direction of a priest/supervisor. It is a structured and supervised programme designed to expose the intern/student to a wide variety of pastoral activity in the communities in which they work.
To assist this process, the Priests who have been appointed to be supervisors of the students for the upcoming internship in 2014 were invited to attend a workshop at St John Vianney Seminary. 12 supervisors attended the workshop directed by Fathers Clement Senekane CSS and S’busiso Sithathu, held on 8 and 9 September 2014. During this time they were orientated to the programme, and had as well the opportunity to meet with their Interns, so commencing, what will hopefully be a fruitful working relationship. The wholehearted attendance and participation of these Priests who travelled long distances to attend this workshop is an indication of their commitment to the formation of our future priests.
